For the \u201cLife in Quarries\u201d project, Holcim was looking for a solution to efficiently manage biodiversity in their quarries, where a stable internet connection and user-friendly equipment in extreme conditions were crucial. <\/p>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Challenge<\/strong><br\/>Managing biodiversity in quarries presents several technical and operational challenges:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Need for a constant and stable internet connection in remote areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Equipment that is resistant to shocks, water and exposure to sunlight.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>User-friendliness in rough working conditions, so that employees can work efficiently.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Solution<\/strong><br\/>Holcim opted for six ruggedized tablets (11.6 inch, Win10 Pro) with a capacitive touchscreen. These tablets offer: <\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Reliable internet connection under all circumstances.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IP64 protection against dust and water.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Robust design that can handle shocks and heavy working conditions.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A wrist strap for easy operation, allowing employees to have one hand free for taking notes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Microtron&#8217;s Role<\/strong><br\/>Microtron had previously equipped Holcim&#8217;s quarry machines with ruggedized tablets and was again chosen as a partner for this project.
