An Indispensable Means of Communication in Extreme Situations
Unfortunately, annoying, or worse, dramatic events bring us face to face with the facts: a smartphone as a means of communication does not always offer a solution. Not so much because of the short battery life, but because a telephone must always work and have coverage regardless of the climatological or other extreme circumstances.
Emergency Telephony: the Suitable Alternative in Tunnels
The smartphone that we all put in our pocket or bag is not always suitable for reaching the emergency services in case of an emergency. In tunnels or metro stations there is poor accessibility and in extreme situations you can also be confronted with an overload of the network, making it completely impossible to reach the emergency services. Then an alternative must be available: emergency telephony
IP65 Emergency Phone
Microtron has entered into a partnership with GAI-Tronics for the supply of emergency phones. The emergency phones from this supplier are adapted to the circumstances in which a smartphone soon drops out. The equipment is fully protected against dust, can withstand heavy shocks and can even be used in very humid conditions. The IP65 standard, which the emergency phones meet, means that they are resistant to dust and water jets. The telephones are equipped with heavy housings, doors that cannot be easily broken open and the handset is connected to the telephone by means of an extremely strong cord. The telephones can be supplied with, among other things, analogue connections, VOIP and GSM modules as desired.
Sustainable Solution
The certainty that emergency phones offer provides peace of mind. Since the various attacks in Europe, such as those in the Brussels metro and at Zaventem airport, Microtron has also seen interest in safety telephones increase. Microtron notes that, for example, governments and transport organisations are increasingly installing emergency phones after they more than proved their worth during the attacks. In some projects, the original order was relatively modest, but it was scaled up when it became clear what a reliable emergency phone can mean in times of need. The phones are also a sustainable solution. Where users had to replace some standard devices in tunnels every four to five months, they now last much longer.
Critical View and Customisation
When investing in safety telephones, it is always important to take a good look at the requirements that an environment or a user places on a telephone. Choosing one type is an option, but perhaps a mix is better suited to the ideal solution. Anyone looking for customisation, has questions, or simply wants one point of contact, can always contact Microtron. Let our experts inform you properly, so that you have certainty about your emergency network now and in the future.
